Three victims have been rescued as men of the Abia State Police Command foiled a child trafficking syndicate in the state.

The suspects, Chidubem Nwachukwu, (aka) Isaac, Florence Nwokocha, Chukwunonye Emerenini and Onyekwere Okeiyi were arrested after one of their victims, lured from Aba to Umuahia raised an alarm.

Investigations further revealed that one of the suspects had promised to marry and take care of the lured victim who was said to have been begging for alms at a motor park in Aba with two of her children aged six months and two years.

She followed the suspect, her lover, to Umuahia where upon her arrival was reportedly taken to a beauty salon to fix her hair.

Further investigation reveled that Nwachukwu, one of the arrested suspects had arranged with members of her gang to take the victim’s children away while she was away.

Upon detection that her children were missing, the victim contacted the police who immediately swung into action and arrested one of the suspects.

Mr. Ezekiel Udeviotu, the state Police Public Relations Officer when contacted said the Primary arrest made gave way to arrest of other members of the gang including a female amputee.

He continued that revelations made by the arrested suspects led to the rescue of the complainant’s two children and one other child who was stolen from the parents at Umudem, Ikeduru in Imo state.

The Police PPRO added that the men of the Abia State Police Command are on a trail of other members of the gang, hoping to rescue more victims and bring perpetrators of such evil to justice.
