Leceister City’s Riyad Mahrez has been permitted to leave Algeria’s training camp to complete a transfer deal, the Algerian Football Federation announced on Thursday.

Mahrez, who was a lynchpin in Leceister City’s fairy tale run to the premier league title in 2015-16, has been in and out of talks with Serie A team Roma since the transfer window has been snapped open.

In a statement released by his country’s Football Federation (F.A.F) it was stated that Mahrez, while preparing for the world cup qualifier against Zambia, had been allowed to travel back to Europe to seal a move before transfer window snap shut.

“Mahrez was authourised by the national coach, Lucas Alcaraz, and FAF to make an express trip to Europe to formalise his transfer to his new club. The selection will, therefore, fly without him Thursday morning to Lusaka to face Zambia on Saturday.” The statement read.

It should be noted that several european giant clubs, which comprises of Chelsea and Barcelona, are wooing the 25-year-old maverick. It’s still unclear which of these heavyweights he’s flown out to sign the dotted line for.
