Uber contractors stage protest in London

Following the withdrawal of Uber’s license by London authorities, its contractors have staged a ‘go-slow protest in central London to insist that the company pays the minimum wage.

More than 100 Uber minicabs drove at walking pace down Edgware Road and Park Lane towards Westminster in central London in an effort to put pressure on the mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, to insist the company pays the minimum wage.

The action was organised by James Farrar and Yaseen Aslam, who three weeks ago won a crucial employment tribunal verdict that Uber should treat its drivers as workers rather than as self-employed.

Recall that London authorities refused to renew Uber’s license in London.
