A 28-year-old unemployed man, Godwin Omenka, on Tuesday pleaded guilty to illicit drug deal before a Federal High Court in Lagos.

Omenka, who had no legal representation, was charged by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on one count.

Following Omenka’s guilty plea, Justice Mohammed Idris remanded him in prison custody pending review of the facts of the case.

Idris adjourned the case to Jan. 20 for the review and possible sentencing.

The prosecutor, Mr Jeremiah Aernan, had told the court that the police arrested Omenka with 2.3kg of Marijuana on June 13 at Lado area of Badagry, Lagos.

He said that the accused was an illegal supplier of narcotics.

Aernan submitted that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 11 (c) of the NDLEA Act, 2004. (NAN)
