University Admission: FG Issues Stern Warning

1 Min Read

The Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Education on Monday issued a stern statement as regards the admission process and guidelines for Nigeria universities.

The Federal Ministry of Education through the Director, Press and Public Relations, Mr. Ben Goong stated that Universities are allowed only to use the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) approved admission list.

The stern statement maintained that any University caught erring to the laid down directive will have itself to blame.

The Education Ministry’s spokesman further added that universities “had no business admitting candidates other than those sent to it by JAMB but could screen candidates to remove those with anti-social traits and suspicious credentials”.

He further maintained that the Federal government’s ban on Post-UTME remains valid as only JAMB remains capable of admitting students.

“All these should be done upon resumption. No university is allowed to have anything to do with any applicant who is not its student. Screening and registration are only for those who have been admitted by JAMB”.
