The multinational mass media corporation Walt Disney is finally introducing its very first Hispanic princess with Elena of Avalor.

The character will make her debut in 2016 on the Disney Junior show, Sofia the First.

Elena is described as “a confident and compassionate teenager in an enchanted fairy tale kingdom inspired by diverse Latin cultures and folklore,” according to a statement from the media corporation.

The character will be brought to life by Aimee Carrero of ABC Family’s Young & Hungry.

After debuting on Sofia the First, Princess Elena will get her own spin-off series that same year.
