Woman Arrested For Stealing N60,000

A 36-year-old woman, Abosede Oloyede, was on Friday arraigned in Osogbo over alleged theft.

Oloyede is facing a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy and theft at an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court.

The Prosecutor, SP Mireti Wilson, told the court that the accused committed the offences on Feb. 28, at about 12 p.m., at Omo West area, Osogbo.

Wilson said the accused conspired with others now at large to steal the sum of N60,000 from one Mrs Omotosho under the pretext of assisting her to secure employment at the Federal Ministry of Education, Abuja.

He said that the accused failed to secure the employment for the complainant and also refused to refund the money collected from her.

The offences contravened sections 516, 419 and 390(9) of the criminal code cap 34vol.11laws of Osun, 2003.

The accused pleaded not guilty.

Counsel to the accused, Mr Henry Odunayo, prayed the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms.

The Magistrate, Mrs Habibatu Bashiru, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 and two sureties in the like sum.

Bashiru said the sureties must reside within the court jurisdiction with evidence of tax payments and two passport size photographs, attached with an affidavit of means.

The case was adjourned to Jan. 6, 2017, for mentioned. (NAN)
