Yahoo to confirm massive data breach

A hacker named “Peace” is bringing a bit of chaos to Yahoo pending its sale to Verizon.

The internet giant is poised to confirm a massive data breach which has exposed millions of its users accounts, this is according to sources close to the situation.

There is nothing smooth about this attack, claimed sources, which became known in August when an infamous cyber criminal named “Peace” said on a website that he was selling credentials of 200 million Yahoo users from 2012 on the dark web for $1,800. The data was alleged to include usernames, easily decrypted passwords and personal information.

At the time, Yahoo said it was “aware of the claim” but did not say if it was legitimate and did not also issue a call for password reset to its users.

The core of this hack may be on the heel of Yahoo’s core business sale for $4.8 billion.

The scale of this liability could be large and bring a pounding head ache to its new owners.
