Youth coalition seeks end to Senate, Executive face-off

National President of Daura Youth Coalition, Alhaji Ali Rabe, on Monday called for immediate resolution of the seemong face-off between the Senate and Executive.

Rabe was reacting to the stand of the Senate not to confirm Ibrahim Magu as EFCC chairman and the contentious issue surrounding the appearance of the Comptroller-General of Customs Mr Ahmadu Ali before it.

He said that the “seeming show of supremacy between the two arms of government is unnecessary and not in the national interest.”

Rabe told the News Agency of Nigeria [NAN] in Daura that all sides must put the nation first above ego or any other consideration.

He noted that compelling Ali to wear uniform was unnecessary since that would not in any way impact on his performance in office.

The Daura youth leader, however, advised the customs boss to consider the option of wearing the official uniform in the interest of the nation, “so as to move on.”

He faulted the Senate for not confirming Magu as EFCC chairman, saying that the decision did not reflect the wonderful performance of the commission since Magu took over.

According to him, the controversial report by the DSS on Magu is merely “inter-agency rivalry” which should not be allowed to cripple the war against corruption.

He said all arms of government and relevant public agencies must work together in the interest of the nation, so as to put Nigeria on the path of growth and development.

NAN reports that Rabe had a week ago led 42 groups to a rally in support of the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.(NAN)
