‎FUT Minna partners World Bank to train 300 youths ‎

The Federal University of Technology Minna, in partnership with World Bank on FADAMA Development Project has started two weeks training for 300 graduate unemployed youths in Niger.

Mrs Lydia Legbo, the university Public Relation Officer, said this in a statement on Saturday in Minna.

The statement quoted the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Musibau Akanji as saying that the training would positively affect the economy and promote quality life of Nigerians.

Akanji said that the training would also help to enhance the skills of the participants as they would become employers of labour.

 

 

“These skills you acquired today is a huge source of generating income and will make you self reliant,” he said.

Akanji said that FUT Minna was an empowerment driven institution with capable academics in many fields.

‎He urged the participants to take maximum advantage of the facilities in the school.

“I advise the participants to be Nigeria’s solution and not Nigeria’s problem,’’.‎

 

 

Prof. Oluwole Morenikeji, the Deputy Vice Chancellor of the school admonished the participants to adhere to the rules and regulations of the institution.

Prof. Rueben Kolo, the Dean, School of Agricultural and Technology (SAAT), Minna said that the training was timely.

“This training is coming at a time when the government and people are determined to fight recession through agriculture.

“A lot has been taught and learnt in agriculture and other business enterprises in the training.‎

“This training will go a long way in food security, as a lot had been learnt in fishing, animal husbandry, cropping, processing of farm produce amongst others.’’

Kolo said that the training was to prepare the unemployed youths and women to be independent and employers of labour‎. (NAN)
