12 Year Old Boy Drowns On Fishing Trip With Friends

Samsodeen Adeniran a 12-year-old boy, has drowned in a river on Lisaluwa Street, Ondo town, Ondo State.

A Herald correspondent stated that the deceased left home to fish with four of his friends on Monday but did not return home.

The source claimed that when the friend’s of the victim returned they were unable to explain his whereabouts, a search party was then organized to search for him at the river.

“Local swimmers were employed to find the missing boy. His corpse was later found in the river by the swimmers,” he added.

Another source told our correspondent that the deceased’s parents were arrested by the Ondo State Police Command for the death.

Mr. Femi Joseph the Ondo State Police Public Relation Officer, verified the incident, describing it as sad and unfortunate.

He, refuted the claim that the parent’s of Samsodeen had been arrested stating they were just invited for interrogation.

Joseph said, “It is illogical to say we arrested the parents. They came to report to us and they told us that they were not interested in making any case from the incident and we agreed with them. So, they left and buried the boy.”
