A 16-year-old boy has been arrested by police officers for killing his school mate during a cult clash in Ijanikin.
According to The Nation, the incident took place on October 21, during an altercation between Oto Awori Secondary School and Government Secondary Schools boys.
During the fight, Ayuba stabbed an Abdulahi Wasiu in the chest, killing him instantly. The Public Affairs Officer (PAO) of the agency Olawale Afolabi, LNSC officials at Vespa received information and notifed policemen at Ijanikin Ijanikin Division who moved to the scene.
Afolabi said, “When LNSC operation team got the information, they notified Ijanikin police station. The police in conjunction with LNSC took the deceased to the hospital. The boy that committed the offence ran away but he was fished out and arrested by our men who handed him over to Ijanikin police station for further action,”

Ayuba has since been taken into custody, as more investigations are being carried out before the case is charged to court.
In March 2018, the then police commissioner in Lagos, Imohimi Edgal, urged Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to declare a state of emergency on cultism as he called on the state House of Assembly to come up with stiffer penalties for cultism, against the backdrop of primary school children being recruited into cult groups.The police, however, admitted that it would adopt the carrot and stick approach in dealing with the child cultists’ phenomenon.
