2 in court over alleged theft of sim cards worth N7m

Two businessmen, Anas Abdullahi and Dalhatu Mohammed, on Wednesday appeared before Taiwo Road Chief Magistrates’ Court in Kaduna, over alleged N7 million sim card theft.
The defendants, who are both resident at Albarkawa Zaria City in Kaduna, are standing trial for criminal conspiracy and theft.
The Prosecutor, Insp Samuel Kangtoma, told the court that the defendants’ co-tenant, one Jafar Bashir, had on Jan. 25, reported the matter at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligent Department.
Kangtoma alleged that sometime in March 2018, one Mohammed Sani conspired with the defendants and stole the complainant’s sim cards worth N7 million from his shop located at Zaria City Kaduna.
He said that the offences contravened Sections 59, 271 and 319 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law, 2017.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Ibrahim Musa, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200, 000 with one surety each in like sum.
Musa held that the sureties must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction and adjourned the matter until March 15 for hearing.(NAN)
