The senator representing Kaduna Central senatorial district, Sen. Shehu Sani, has described the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as a fraudulent party.

Sani made this known in a Wednesday tweet while reacting to the conflicting endorsements of the party by the leading socio-cultural groups in the South-West and South-East geo-political zones, Afenifere and Ohanaeze Ndigbo respectively.

Recall that different factions of Afenifere and Ohanaeze have at different times endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari of the APC and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democractic Party (PDP) for the February 16 presidential election.

While the Reuben Fasoranti-led faction of Afenifere has endorsed Atiku, the Ayo Fasanmi-led faction of the group has pitched its tent with President Buhari.

Although Ohanaeze President-General, Chief John Nnia Nwodo disclosed that the group had endorsed Atiku, Ohanaeze Secretary, Uche Okwukwu said nothing of the sort happened.

Sani said that the conflicting endorsements could be compared to the manner some APC bigwigs have been promising the 2023 presidency to the two regions in exchange for supporting Buhari’s re-election bid.

Speaking during a meeting with the Alaafin of Oyo on December 22, 2018, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo urged Yorubas to vote massively for Buhari in 2019 in order to secure the presidency for the South West region in 2023.

The Minister of Transport and Director General of the APC Presidential Campaign Organisation, Rotimi Amaechi equally made the same promise to the South East geo-political zone.

Speaking during the APC presidential campaign rally in Enugu on Thursday, January 24, Amaechi urged Ndigbo to vote massively for Buhari in 2019 to secure the presidency for the region in 2023.

Reacting to the conflicting promises and endorsements, Sani said, “While the ruling party is giving conflicting promises of power to the south East and the south west in 2023; the socio cultural groups from the two zones too are also giving conflicting endorsements to the ruling party and the opposition presidential candidates. Wayo meets wayo.”
