The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina has disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari is in excellent health and fit to seek reelection in the 2019 general election.

Adesina said Buhari, who admitted going through his worst health challenge ever in 2017, is healthier now than he was in 2015 when he won his first term in office.

He said the president’s failure to announce his second-term bid yet had nothing to do with any health challenge.

The presidential aide made these known to State House correspondents on Sunday, the News Agency of Nigeria reported.

Recall that President Buhari had gone to London twice last year to treat an undisclosed ailment, eventually staying outside the shores of the country for over 100 days.

Adesina said, “yes, health is wealth. The president is not a frivolous person. If he thinks that his health cannot carry anything, he will not do it.

“So, of course, his health will matter a lot. It will be very important but we need to give glory to God for the way he is now.

“Every day you see the president, you see a glow about him, you see freshness about him. I think he’s even in a better state than when he came in 2015. It’s all to the glory of God.

“So, once he assesses that his health can carry it, there’s nothing wrong if he steps into the fray. But he has the final decision.’’
