As the 2019 General election draws nearer and politicking within the country heightens to a crescendo, it would seem as if the incumbent President, Muhammadu Buhari has done such a bad job that everybody wants to take his seat, including a Pastor in the House of God, Reverend Chris Okotie.

Asides from the venerable reverend there are nearly 15 other Presidential hopefuls from different political parties, small and large who think they can do better if given the chance to be Nigeria’s President.

Joining the long Queue of Presidential aspirant, Reverend Chris Okotie declared his intention to run for the presidency under the platform of the Fresh Democratic Party on Monday.

Reverend Okorie made the announcement during a Church service to commemorate Nigeria’s 58th year Independence celebrations at the Household of God Church which he is the founder and general overseer.

The musician turned Pastor also made use of the platform to ask other political parties to adopt him as a consensus candidate to run against incumbent Buhari in the election.

“I want to re-affirm my call for an interim government and to ask those that are concerned, who are the political actors to consider me as a consensus candidate. I have referred to myself as a consensus remedial facilitator because of the existential threats that we have now and I think that it’s time for us to lay aside the habiliments of our political affiliations and to embrace a new nationalistic philosophy that can salvage this country at this time”. He said after making his announcement.

While announcing his intention to run, Okotie had said Nigeria was where it was today because the church of Christ in Nigeria had refused to participate in the politics and leadership of the country.

This has opened the way for people with low morals and strange doctrines to bring the nations to its knees he reiterated further saying that the time has come for the Church to be fully active in politics.

This is the third time Chris Okotie will be contesting for the Presidency having first contested in 2007 and subsequently in 2011.
