Billionaire businessman, Femi Otedola has reportedly accepted the gubernatorial ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to contest as Governor of Lagos State in 2019.

Ovation publisher, Dele Momodu made this known in a tweet via his verified Twitter handle on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the tweet, which is now trending online, Otedola was offered the ticket by the PDP and he accepted it.

Momodu, a respected journalist that first revealed Senate President Bukola Saraki’s presidential ambition, said, “Breaking news: Lagos 2019 promises to be interesting. PDP offers Femi Otedola governorship ticket. He’s accepted and personally confirmed to The Boss newspaper…”

Otedola is believed to have accepted the PDP ticket following reported crises within the All Progressives Congress (APC) ranks in the state, after initially stating that he would not contest against his friend and incumbent, Akinwunmi Ambode.

The relationship between Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and the political godfather in the state, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, is believed to be frosty despite spirited denials by associates.

However, Otedola, who is the Chairman of Forte Oil, is presently vacationing at an undisclosed location.

Recall that Ambode picked up his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms, to seek a second term in office, from the National Secretariat of the APC in Abuja on Monday.

Addressing his supporters in the state capital, Ikeja, Ambode called on Lagosians to support his return for continuity of the giant strides he had been able to achieve in three and half years.

He said, “In these three and a half years as your governor, I have seen visible proof that we can achieve unbelievable things when we all come together with no more than our belief in our dreams .

“But there is still a lot more to be done and I am not tired. I am sure you feel the same way because we all envision a better Lagos of our dreams .

“So, I humbly call you again to give me your support as I seek to continue with your mandate to steer the affairs of our state; let us achieve more.”
