Former Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has identified qualities that the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) must possess in order to defeat incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 presidential election.

The vocal ex-minister disclosed this in a series of tweets via his verified Twitter handle on Tuesday morning.

No fewer than 12 prominent politicians are seeking the presidential ticket of the PDP ahead of the polls.

They include former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar; Senate President Bukola Saraki; former Senate President, David Mark;  Sokoto Governor, Aminu Tambuwal; Gombe State Governor, Ibrahim Dabkwambo; and former Jigawa Governor, Sule Lamido.

Others are former Governor of Kano, Rab’iu Musa Kwankwaso; former Plateau State Governor, Jonah Jang, former Sokoto Governor, Attahiru Bafarawa among others.

According to Fani-Kayode, the successful candidate must be able to defeat Buhari in his “own backyard” and “defend his mandate”.

He said, “The most important thing is for us to pick a candidate that can beat Buhari. Anything less would be a great diservice to our nation.

“We need a strong man who can not only beat Buhari in his own back yard but who can also defend his mandate. A man that is prepared to unleash his own army of dogs and baboons if he is rigged out.

“This time around Buhari will not be the only one threatening hell, fire and brimstone. Unlike in 2015 we shall all do it. This time round we shall not be robbed and the stronger and most popular candidate will emerge.”
