Former Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has revealed what the opposition will do to incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari should he lose the 2019 presidential election and refuse to step down.

Taking to his verified Twitter handle on Thursday morning, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain said that Buhari would be given the “Gbagbo treatment”.

Laurent Gbagbo is a former President of Cote d’Ivoire who refused to concede defeat after losing presidential elections in 2010 but was arrested and extradited to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in 2011, becoming the first head of state to be taken into the court’s custody.

Gbagbo, who is facing charges of crimes against humanity, has been in detention ever since.

Fani-Kayode said, “To those that boastfully proclaim that after President Muhammadu Buhari has been defeated he will not step down for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, I say this: if he refuses to go we will march on the Villa, enter his bedroom, give him the Gbagbo treatment and send him to ICC to answer for his many crimes against humanity.”
