The Convener, Concerned Nigerians, Deji Adeyanju, has advised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against fielding former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as its presidential candidate in 2023.

He said fielding Atiku, who was PDP’s presidential flagbearer in 2019, would spell doom for the main opposition party in 2023.

Adeyanju stated this in a series of posts on Facebook on Friday.

According to him, the Adamawa State-born politician is an “old (and) tired” man that has “nothing to offer Nigeria”.

His assertion came barely a day after images and videos circulated of bread bearing Atiku’s name and image being distributed in Kano State.

The bread bore the catchphrase, “Atiku Kawai” which is Hausa for “Atiku Only”.

Adeyanju, who shared a photo of Atiku alongside that of the bread, wrote, “Atiku has nothing to offer Nigeria. Nigeria must move forward from old tired men like Atiku, Tinubu & Buhari. They are not just old but very sick and always with their doctors. Those promoting them are only looking for power at all cost, free dollars and business as usual. We need competent, young & energetic leaders who will not be a liability on the nation.

“The reason why I can speak up anytime against Atiku or anyone else is that I have never accepted any kobo from them. Can you boast of same? They will come out with your receipts immediately.

“APC will easily win 2023 election if Atiku gets PDP ticket because APC will be presenting someone fresh, a Governor, Minister, etc.”

Adeyanju said that presenting Atiku again would mean that the PDP has not learnt any lesson from its defeat in 2019.

”What it means is that PDP has not learnt anything in opposition for 8yrs. Nigerians are tired of these sick old men. Feel the pulse of the nation. I sincerely want APC to win the next election so that many Nigerians can have sense. Some people are still defending Abba Kyari, which means sense is still far from them.”
