The Governor of Katsina, Aminu Masari, says the Southern part of Nigeria should produce the president in 2023 for the sake of fairness.

Katsina is located in the North-West geopolitical zone and is the home state of President Muhammadu Buhari, whose second term comes to an end on May 29, 2023.

Ahead of the next presidential election, there have been calls on the major political parties to zone their presidential ticket to some sections of the country.

The Herald had reported that apex Igbo sociocultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo vowed not to support the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023 if the party’s ticket was not zoned to theSouth-East.

“With regards to zoning, fair is fair. If you ask me, I would, as a person — Aminu — think we should move the presidency to the southern part of the country,” Masari said on Channels Television‘s “Politics Today” on Thursday.

Asked if he had any particular Southern zone in mind, the Katsina governor said, “south is south”.

He also boasted about the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)’s chances in the next general election.

According to Masari, no other political party has positively impacted the lives of Nigerians the way the APC has done with social intervention programmes.

He said that the party would therefore perform well in the next general election.
