Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi is the best Southern candidate to flag the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s in the presidential election in 2023 because of his good health and experience, a chieftain of the party, Senator Alex Kadiri has said.

He said that the National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu would not be a good choice of a presidential candidate on account of his health.

Kadiri revealed this during an interaction with the media on Sunday in Abuja.

The ex-federal lawmaker from Kogi State noted that the North-Central geopolitical zone has no viable candidate for the presidency in 2023 and should instead focus on the national chairmanship seat.

This is just as he advocated a power shift to the South in 2023.

Kadiri, who noted that he nursed no ill-feelings towards Igbos, said that the South-East zone should not produce the president because of “their republican attitude to everything”.

On the transport minister, Kadiri said, “Whether you like it or not, Rotimi Amaechi still stands as a viable person. He has the experience, and good health. Anybody we are considering today as President must be healthy. We can’t move from Yar’ Adua (Umaru) to Buhari (Muhammadu) and then to Tinubu (Bola). If Amaechi and Zulum can put their acts together, this country can move forward.”
