Chairman of Nigeria Governors Forum and Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi has denied nursing a presidential ambition in 2023.

The governor’s denial came through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Segun Dipe on Wednesday.

He said that as chairman of the forum and Ekiti governor, he is committed to fostering peace among his brother governors and providing dividends of democracy to his people respectively.

According to him, those linking him to a presidential ambition have misread his personality and conduct.

Fayemi added that they have also misjudged his relationship with President Muhammadu Buhari, hence taking his reconciliatory efforts for ambition to succeed the president.

The governor said that although he is eminently qualified, he preferred to be seen as playing the crucial role of bridge-building among the state governors rather than nursing a grand plot to take over the presidency in 2023.

“Fayemi is a sitting governor and he chairs the Nigeria Governors’ Forum. He enjoys these roles and he is playing them to the best of his ability.

“His objective is that of engaging in processes such as negotiation, mediation, conciliation, and arbitration in order to move a seemingly violent conflict into non-violent dialogue, where differences are settled through conflict transformation processes or through the work of representative political institutions,” he said.
