2027: PDP Group Urges Amaechi, Obi to Return and Join Forces with Bala Mohammed

A pro-Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) group, Bala Agents’ Mandate, has called on former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, and former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to return to the PDP ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at a press conference in Port Harcourt on Monday, the State Coordinator of the group, Amadi Chijioke, urged the two political figures to abandon any plans of forming a new opposition coalition, warning that such efforts would further fragment the opposition and weaken attempts to rescue the country from what he described as ongoing “democratic backsliding.”
“I strongly believe in the leadership of Governor Bala Mohammed to lead the PDP to glory. There is no need to pursue the formation of another opposition bloc. Peter Obi and Chibuike Amaechi should return home. PDP is their political foundation, and it is time to rebuild it,” Chijioke said.
Chijioke emphasized that Governor Mohammed, who also leads the PDP Governors’ Forum, stands as a unifying force within the party and should be supported to steer the PDP towards reclaiming power in 2027.
Also speaking, the group’s National Coordinator, Habib Musa, hailed Bala Mohammed’s leadership as a symbol of accountability and stability amid recent defections from the party. Musa condemned the exit of Delta and Akwa Ibom State governors to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the moves as driven by “fear and opportunism” rather than principle.
“We assure the people of those states that the PDP remains a resilient political force. We will reclaim those mandates at the ballot box,” Musa declared.
He also extended an olive branch to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, urging him to reconcile with the PDP and work with Bala Mohammed to restore party unity, despite Wike’s current role within the APC-led federal government.
