2027: Tinubu Needs Second Term to Complete Reforms – Keyamo

Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has urged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to set aside personal interests and rally behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

Speaking during an appearance on Politics Today on Channels Television on Monday, Keyamo emphasized that Tinubu requires a second term to consolidate and complete the reforms his administration has initiated.

“Every single APC member in Nigeria today should be concentrating on the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, irrespective of whether it affects your personal interest or not,” Keyamo said. “He does need a second term to fully finish up all these reforms.”

He warned that a change in leadership could derail the progress made so far, likening such an outcome to past disruptions caused by inconsistent policy implementation.

Commenting on the recent defection of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to the APC, Keyamo—who hails from the same state—said he willingly ceded party leadership in Delta to Oborevwori as part of efforts to strengthen the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“Whether I have to make sacrifices like yesterday where we surrendered [party leadership in Delta], it is all irrelevant so long as we are strengthening APC the more for the re-election of Mr President,” he added. “I don’t care whether it affects me, I don’t care whether I lose out politically—Mr President must be re-elected.”

Keyamo described the governor’s move as a major boost for the party, noting that Delta had been a key financial and political stronghold of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
