25 power coys generated average of 2,503GWh in quarter two – NBS

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) says average of 2,503GWh of electricity was generated and sent out by the 25 power generation companies during the second quarter of 2017.

Quarter Two Power Generation Statistics Report posted on NBS Website indicated that Egbin Power Plant contributed about 11.22 per cent of the average energy generated during the period.

According to the report, the generation from Egbin represented the highest generation among the 25 power plants during the period under review.

The report also indicated that daily energy generation attained a peak of 4,079 MW on May 29, while daily energy sent out on same date was 4,014 MW.

 

 

It also reported that the highest daily energy generated per hour attained a peak of 97,891 MWh on May 29, while daily energy sent out per hour on same date was 96,334 MWh.

This, according to the report represents the highest level of energy generated and sent out in May for the quater.

The NBS report, however, said that the lowest daily energy generation of 2,679 MW in the quater was attained on April 9, while daily energy sent out on that date was 2,638 MW.

“The lowest daily energy of 64,299MW generation per hour was also attained on same date while 63,304MWh was sent out,“ it reported. (NAN)
