Twenty-nine suspects have escaped from detention at the Central Police Station, Umuahia in Abia State.
In the incident that reportedly occurred on Saturday night, the suspects were said to have overpowered the lone cell guard before zooming off.
However, The Nation reported that 20 of the suspects that escaped detention have been rearrested while nine remain at large.
Confirming the incident, Abia State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Geoffrey Ogbonna urged the public to assist in rearresting the fleeing suspects.
