2Face Idibia Confirms Separation from Annie, Says They Gave Their Best

Nigerian music legend Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Face or 2Baba, has opened up about his decision to end his marriage to actress Annie Idibia after more than a decade together.

Speaking on the 234 Mzansi Podcast hosted by media personality Nedu, the “African Queen” hitmaker revealed that both he and Annie had put in their best efforts to save the relationship, but ultimately chose to part ways.

While 2Face declined to go into the specifics behind their separation, he described Annie as “an amazing woman,” adding that the decision to split was mutual and made with understanding between both parties.

“I think both of us gave it our best. And why we’re not together today is not something I’m going to talk about publicly,” he said. “She’s amazing — it just wasn’t working anymore.”

The award-winning singer stressed that individuals should not feel obligated to remain in relationships that no longer serve them, warning against staying in unhappy unions to satisfy societal expectations.

“It’s always good not to torture yourself, and not to allow society or people to dictate your feelings,” he said. “Because this thing called ‘living in bondage’ is real, and many people have gone to their grave very sad people.”

2Face emphasized the importance of attempting to resolve marital issues but maintained that forcing things when the emotional connection is lost can lead to unnecessary suffering. “Only people in the marriage know exactly what they’re feeling,” he noted.
