Following the protest staged by members of the Nigerian female national football team, Super Falcons, at the National Assembly earlier today over unpaid allowances by the Nigerian Football Federation, NFF, celebrities have expressed their take on what has been described as ill treatment and neglect of the champions.

Legendary Nigerian singer, 2face Idibia took to his social media page on Instagram to support the protesting champions. 

He wrote: “Some people have been collecting outrageous salaries and allowances 4 doing nothing meanwhile this patriotic Nigerian girls have done us proud over and over and over and some one or some people feel say na their mouth money sweet pass or needs their money more than them. Shame on all tiers of government that have turned a blind eye on this issue. Somebody/some people need 2 be fired cos of this heartless disgraceful act. #superfalcons #africanchampions deserve better #payoursportsheroes”

Reacting to the protest, Paul Okoye of Psquare music group also showed his support for the female footballers as he wrote: “From champions to the street ?? what a big shame!!! A Public international disgrace? don’t even have a word to call this?And one big ewu mmeehhh is still in the office!! Wish all Nigerians could join hands and put this to an end ?how can one be proud of this country like this na? after making us proud… if u can treat the most popular sport in the world like this… then am sorry for the rest … only God knows what others are going through?”
