A total of 36 students have reportedly been left stranded in India for various acts including inability to cater for their educational fees.

According to Judith Kapijimpanga, the Zambian High Commissioner to India, the 36 Zambian students are currently stranded in India after failure to get clearance from their universities to return.

Judith Kapijimpanga revealed that most of the students were stranded because they could not afford to pay their tuition fees while others had failed their examinations and were too scared to report their poor academic performance to their parents.

She added that “some students had also committed crimes, such as taking drugs but the Zambian government plans to engage with India’s foreign ministry to get the students back home.”
