6 million Personal Data Of Verizon Users Leak Online

Verizon, yesterday confirmed that personal data of 6 million of its customers has been leaked online.

According to the tech company, the security breach was discovered by a research from cybersecurity firm, UpGuard.

The security breach according to the company was allegedly caused by a misconfigured security setting on a cloud server.

Describing the error as “human error”, the error has caused the leak of customer phone numbers, names, and some PIN codes.

The leaked PIN codes are used to confirm the identity of people who call for customer service assistance.

Due to the recent information leak, the tech company has however advised its customers to update their PIN codes and desist from using the previous ones which have been made available online.
