7 Great Gift Ideas For Father’s Day

6 Min Read

As we all know, Father’s Day is just around the corner and I’m pretty sure some of you are having a hard time picking out a memorable gift for your fathers. Look no further for you have stumbled upon the right site.

There are a lot of people out there who feel disgusted with the idea of Father’s Day talk less of a Father’s Day gift. Main reason being that their fathers abandoned them when they were younger or are too busy with work and never make out time for them. Whatever reason it may be, it would take nothing from you to get your father a gift. And if he has a heart, he will appreciate whatever you get for him be it a card and a hug. And while those are nice, so is a bottle of Jack Daniel’s and Creed’s Royal Oud.

Men are usually indifferent when it comes to gifts. They take what they get without whining, unlike women. And so in no particular order, here are 5 Father’s Day gifts for all calibre of men:

1. CUSTOMIZED CUFFLINKS
According to 16th century France, Cufflinks are a sign of royalty and high class. But this is 21st century Nigeria and every man should own at least a pair, especially your father.
They are tiny accessories but they add a lot of style and personality to a shirt. But why not spice it up by getting your father customized cufflinks? Could be his favorite football club, your mothers name, his initials, whatever you know would work for him. Just have him smiling at the end of the day.

2. DINNER
Not everyone has the money to spend on dinner at someplace fancy when you can just have rice and stew at home and watch SuperSport with your main man. But that’s why DealDey is a life saver.
They’ve got amazing 3 course meal deals at some of the best restaurants in Lagos so feel free to check them out if your pocket isn’t smiling this period.
Take your dad out and have meaningless/meaningful conversations. It’s up to you, so long as you both have fun!

3. ART
Okay so you’ve seen art and first thing that comes to your head is “bleh”. Well, that’s quite understandable seeing as a lot of Nigerians don’t appreciate art except it involves them. A great Father’s Day gift to your dad would be a painting of one of his favorite pictures of himself. You know, get him to feel himself every time he walks past where the painting is hung.
Standard professional paintings go for nothing less than N35,000. Quite affordable for someone who has seen you through kindergarten to university right?

4. PERFUMES
Yes Lord.
When has anyone ever gone wrong with perfumes? They’ve always been the “right gift” be it an anniversary, birthday or any occasion at all. When selecting colognes for your father, you have to ask yourself if it is something he would actually wear. Not like those basic “Mallam” perfumes. It’s somewhat rude to present such to anybody talk less of your father. So if you’re broke, an aftershave cologne won’t be so bad being that they are not as pricey.

5. PENS
Oh I am not talking about bic pens here guys. I’m not talking about Schneider pens either. I’m talking about those fancy ass ballpoint pens that just catch the eye from afar. The Montblanc Cruise Collection White ballpoint pen just screams class! I don’t know about you but I’d love to see my man with that kind of pen. Think Chuck Bass.

6. SHOES
I was talking to a friend of mine and he told me that as much as men don’t want to admit it, they enjoy receiving shoes as gifts. But it takes knowing what sort of shoes to give. You don’t give a black shoe loving gentleman sneakers not even if they are Yeezy or Zanotti sneakers. Know your dad, get him that shoe he wants but he feels he doesn’t need.

7. CLOTHES
We all love clothes, male or female. Dad or Mum. Boyfriend or Girlfriend. Spoil your dad a bit, get your tailor to get his measurements and fix him something nice. Maybe a 3-piece suit. James bond-esque. Trust me, pulling up to your dad’s with a suit just for him would impress him as much as buying him a Mercedes Benz SLK 250 (LOL, No it wouldn’t) but it would come close a bit.
Know your dad’s measurements already and are looking for affordable 3-piece suits? Nigerian brands Tafo Clothings and AdeTorch Clothings are one of the best. Feel free to look them up on Instagram.

But then at the end of the day, the best gift you can give your dad is just the company of your time. Just call him up and just check up on him. After all, it is the thought that matters! (Once again LOL). And I have come to the end of my list guys, feel free to drop other suggestions in the comment column below.
