5 Min Read

At some point in our lives, we all feel a bit stuck whether it’s in a relationship that doesn’t make us happy, a job that doesn’t adequately reward us or a goal that isn’t productive.

The answers to these problems lies within, you might disagree, but changing jobs or switching relationships will not solve the problem. You have to search within yourself to get answers to the big questions.

Here are 7 Life hacks to help you win and succeed everyday

1. Don’t Always Expect the Worst

Be it relationships, business or career, don’t always expect the worst. If you treat people like they will always disappoint you, there is a high probability that they sure will eventually.

Scepticism is a form of self-preservation but it can also lead to self-destruction. When events happen, be optimistic, expect the best always. Life won’t always give you the best but there is a limit to what is within our control. Always expect the best and be cheerful. You just might hit your jackpot soon.

2. You don’t always have to fit in

As an adult, what you choose to do and not do has nothing to do with others, because all your friends are getting married, that doesn’t mean you have to also get married when you know that you are not ready. You won’t always fit into the group every time so don’t even bother trying.

3. Always be Open Minded

Life is full of so many twists and turns. Some of us walk around with so many conditioned thoughts that we actually never allow ourselves to explore other ideas. A 21 year old lady once declared she will never watch a Nollywood movie because when she was six, her cousin told her that Nollywood movies suck.

You can’t spend an entire life time stuck on other peoples biased opinion of things, places and events. Be open minded, taste that soup they called bitter, it might not be so bitter after all.

4. Take Responsibility for Your Actions

As an adult, you have to learn to always take responsibility for your actions; accepting responsibility and maning up or womaning up is the first step in the journey to success.

It is easy for our subconscious mind to use irresponsibility as an opportunity to not go after our dreams. Its just like saying, ‘Shebi its not my fault my fault I can’t do that!’ Stand up, chest out and be more responsible. You will notice how much attention you will pay to details and tangible achievements once you make that decision.

5. Don’t Set Unrealistic Goals

Chasing realities that are not true to you is the first step towards failure. If you want to be successful in everything you do, set realistic and achievable goals.

When you wake up every day, make a list of the things you want to achieve for the day and go for it. Before drifting into dream land, take stock of the day and tick the goals you were able to achieve. Do this for a week and you will notice that it is already part and parcel of your daily routine.

6. Don’t Procrastinate

They say now is the time, now is the time to apply for the dream job, now is the time to learn that skill, now is the time to complete that professional course.

Procrastination will only delay your success. It’s true what they say in the motivational books, if you keep procrastinating, you will never stop sabotaging your success. It is the ultimate form of self-sabotaging, stop procrastinating and just do it now.

7. You are good enough

Never listen to what people say about you, anyway you can listen to fair criticism and apply changes. Statements like ‘you are not good enough,’ ‘you are not beautiful,’ are just aimed at destroying your self-esteem.

To succeed at anything, you have to believe in yourself; don’t listen to naysayers who tell you otherwise.
