Nigerians Respond Angrily To Don Jazzy's Call For Donations For OJB Jezreel -

Popular music producer, Don Jazzy took to popular social media networking site for a good cause. The cause, to raise money for a fellow music producer, Babatunde Jezreel Okungbowa a.k.a. OJB Jezreel, who is suffering from a kidney ailment and is in need of $100,000 or N16 million in order to pay for a life-saving medical operation.

Michael Collins aka Don Jazzy tweeted: “Guys do not wait for celebrities alone. Any thing you can do also can #HelpSaveOjb. May God help us all.”

The most popular website in Nigeria, Nairaland carried the topic on its front page and some of the site’s one million users responded.

Here are a selection of some of the comments that were made in response to Don Jazzy’s call for charity:

A user Jonwizey said, “How much I dey collect per month?”

Another user Zachie said, “Jazzy, one bottle of champagne will save that man. Just one bottle.” This comment was made in reference to a bottle of chamoagne worth over N250 million which was gifted to Don Jazzy by a business associate, Alexander Amosu.

There was definitely a backlash from Nigerians as most of the comments were in the negative and betrayed a growing dislike by Nigerians concerning the flashy lifestyles of their most loved entertainers.

One user with the screenname 991 commented, “the same don jazzy that was drinking wine worth more than a million dollar? the same p square that claimed they bought jet, oil business etc. Where are all of them posing with cars worth millions? d other day one of them (JMartins) claimed he gave a fan wrist watch worth thousands of dollars, just $100k to save a life and they are crying boohoo? It`s either these guys are heartless or they are fake. By the way, the pastor that this guy pays 10% of his income weekly is cruising around in his G550 private jet….nonsense!!!

Finally, another user by the screename OliverPin stated quite rudely, “Donjassy, I still dey crack head, no much money to even eat, i still dey hustle. donjassy your car wey you flash on twitter worth over 100 million naira, one of 2face car na over 10 million, wizkid get accident with car worth 15 million, psquare get jet like 200million, davido dey shi…t na money dey come out for hin yansh and you say make i come donate. donjassy how na? angry how make i do am na? angry I don die ooooo cry cry cry ”
