The Federal government has hinted on a possible replacement for the BBNaija reality show, following several criticisms of the current edition.

As a matter of fact, a formal complaint has already been filed and submitted to the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) detailing how morally wrong the program seems to be, especially for young children in the country.

Hence, an alternative BBNaija show where the Nigerian culture and foods will be projected has been said to be in its planning stage, according to Otunba Segun Runsewe, the Director-General of the National Council for Arts and Culture.

The DG further disclosed that a bill titled, “A Bill for an Act to punish and prohibit nudity, sexual intimidation and other-related offenses in Nigeria,” will be forwarded and would most likely be sponsored by the Senate Committee on Women and Youth chairperson, Eme Ekaette.

The Federal government has hinted on a possible replacement for the BBNaija reality show, following several criticisms of the current edition.

He continued, “We are going to represent that bill You can’t fight a battle without a legal framework; we are definitely going to be conscious of that”, Runsewe assured.

“I will take up the issue of BBNaija; I have spoken with officials of the National Broadcasting Commission because what is going on now is terrible. Having love affairs on-screen is not part of our own culture at all.

“Let me use this forum to tell Nigerians that a new Big Brother Naija is on its way coming and we are working with Startimes. We are doing BBNaija that will reflect the true Nigerian culture. We are already working on it, all that will be eaten there will be Nigerian food, the dresses will be Nigerian dresses.”
