Abaribe gets PDP’s nod as Senate Minority Leader (full list)

The senator representing Abia South senatorial district, Sen. Enyinnaya Abaribe, has emerged as the Minority Leader of the Senate.

The former Abia deputy governor’s emergence was announced at a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leadership meeting in Abuja on Thursday night.

Abaribe, who was first elected into the Senate in 2007, served as Chairman of the Committee on Power in the 8th Senate.

Also, Sen. Emmanuel Bwacha , who represents Taraba South senatorial district emerged as Deputy Minority Leader while Sen. Philip Aduda, who represents the Federal Capital Territory emerged the Minority Whip.

Furthermore, Senator Clifford Odia representing Edo Central was named the Senate Deputy Minority Whip.

The PDP National Working Committee (NWC) which had continued its closed-door meeting on Thursday night had not released an official statement on the appointments as of press time.

According to report, the party leadership would equally meet the House of Representatives Caucus on today to pick its leaders.
