Days after she was abducted by unknown gunmen in Okrika, Madam Patience Tam-George, the mother of the Rivers State Commissioner of Information and Communication, Austin Tam-George, has been set free.

The 85-year-old was abducted last Saturday and regained her freedom in the early hours of Friday.

At the time of her kidnapping, her abductors demanded for a ransom fee of N30 million, which was later reduced to N25 million.

It could however not be ascertained if any ransom had been paid to secure her release.

Her eldest son, Godknows Tam-George, confirmed the octogenarian’s release by her captors.

After she was abducted, Dr. Austin Tam-George had pointed accusing at the All Progressives (APC), an assertion his elder brother disagreed with.

The elder Tam-George, who was a Special Adviser to former Governor Rotimi Amaechi on NDDC Affairs, said his mother’s abduction had no political undercurrent and should be viewed as the criminal act that it was.
