Katsina state Governor, Aminu Masari, has declared that 333 school students of the Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, are unaccounted for.

He made this known on Sunday when Minister of Defence, Gen. Salihi Magashi, and other service chiefs visited the state.

‘The school students abducted are from various states, all housed in the boarding house,’ the Governor stated.

Masari explained that the school had a population of 839 out of which 333 students are still missing.

He however assured that some of the school students escaped into the nearby forest.

‘We are currently counting the population and calling parents to find out the availability of their children,’ he said.

He lamented that the bandits are yet to reach out to all parties concerned.

Masari declared that the government was working round the clock to ensure the safe return of those abducted on Friday night.

Gen. Magashi guaranteed that the Federal Government was investigating the incident, before entering into closed-door meeting with the Governor.
