Abia Gov’s Spokesman Accuses APC Chairman of Misleading President Tinubu with False Claims

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Abia State, Ukoha Njoku Ukoha, has accused the Abia State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kingsley Ononogbu, of attempting to mislead President Bola Tinubu with false claims about Governor Alex Otti’s leadership.
Ukoha’s statement comes in response to remarks made by Ononogbu during the inauguration of the Renewed Hope Partners in Bende on Sunday. Ononogbu had criticized Governor Otti for allegedly running a “one-man show” and governing the state from his private residence rather than the official government house in Umuahia. He also accused the governor of relying on social media propaganda to exaggerate his achievements.
In a strongly worded rebuttal, Ukoha dismissed the APC Chairman’s comments as “deliberate misinformation” intended to deceive President Tinubu about the situation in Abia and the true strength of the APC in the state.
“Ononogbu should desist from deceiving and misleading Mr. President,” Ukoha said. “He should focus on how to gain more votes for President Tinubu in 2027 instead of fabricating lies against Governor Otti, who is widely celebrated across the state.”
The CPS reminded Ononogbu of the party’s poor electoral performance in the 2023 presidential election in Abia, where the APC secured just 4% of the vote, adding that such tactics would only further damage the party’s image in the state.
He also emphasized that the issue of the Governor’s residence had already been addressed by the state government and should not be used as a tool for political attacks.
“Rather than smear campaigns, the APC in Abia should focus on rebuilding trust with the people,” Ukoha added, warning that Ononogbu’s actions risk tarnishing the party’s reputation even further.
