Abia Warriors Goalkeeper Shot in Ibadan

The goalkeeper for Abia Warriors Football Club in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), Charles Tambe was shot in Ibadan on Friday.

The main goal stopper for the NPFL side was rushed to the emergency section of the University Teaching Hospital, Ibadan (UCH) after he was shot by hoodlums on Friday.

Confirming the situation in a statement, the Sporting Director for Abia Warriors, Patrick Ngwaogu said the club was handling the issue and there was no need for the public to panic.

The sporting director said Tambe was attacked while on his normal work-out routine at 7am within the Apata area of Ibadan where he resides with his family.

His assailants shot the goalkeeper in the hand and made away with his wristwatch and phone before running away.
