AC Milan ended Inter Milan’s hopes of securing a historic Treble this season with a commanding 3-0 victory in the second leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final clash on Wednesday night.

After a closely contested 1-1 draw in the first leg, the Rossoneri turned on the style at the San Siro, overwhelming their city rivals and booking a place in the final of the competition.

Serbian striker Luka Jovic was the star of the night, netting a brace in the 36th and 50th minutes to put Milan firmly in control. Dutch midfielder Tijjani Reijnders sealed the result with a late strike in the 85th minute, sending the home crowd into a frenzy.

The win marks a significant moment for Milan, who are aiming to lift the Coppa Italia for the first time since the 2002-03 season. Their last appearance in the final came in 2018, where they suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat to Juventus.

Stefano Pioli’s men will now await the winner of the other semi-final between Bologna and Empoli to determine their final opponent.

For Inter Milan, the defeat brings an abrupt end to their domestic cup ambitions, though they remain in contention for two major trophies. Simone Inzaghi’s side sit atop the Serie A table and will now shift focus to a crucial UEFA Champions League semi-final first-leg clash against Barcelona.

The Derby della Madonnina once again delivered drama, but this time, it was the red half of Milan celebrating a night of triumph and renewed silverware hopes.
