The ongoing drama within the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) continued today as the Acting Managing Director of the Agency, Kemebradikupo Pondei walked out on lawmakers during an investigative hearing on Thursday.

Pondei walked out on the House of Representatives panel set up to investigate allegations of corruption in the agency, claiming that the chairman had conflict of interest and could not preside over the hearing.

The Acting MD said Tunji-Ojo was also alleged to have taken part in the alleged fraud at the NCDC. He said the panel chairman had no right to try him for the same offence.

He thereafter proceeded to walk out on the Lawmakers.

Pondei’s accusation attracted massive condemnation from the lawmakers who issued an order for his arrest.

They thereafter passed expressed confidence in Iyabo-Ojo by passing a vote of confidence in his favour.

Iyabo-Ojo had been accused of taking a road contract which he failed to execute for the NDDC before the current interim manager came into office.

He has however denied the allegation, saying it was simply untrue.
