Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke has warned warring factions of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in the state to sheath their swords and channel their grievances through the appropriate channels.

The governor, inaugurated on Sunday, gave the warning in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Malam Rasheed Olawale in Osogbo.

Adeleke’s statement comes as some members of NURTW protested at Old garage motor park, Okefia, Olaiya and Aregbe.

The union members are struggling for supremacy over who controls motor parks.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), rival groups blocked roads preventing easy access and scaring away passersby.

The governor directed security agencies to ensure the safety of lives and property within the areas affected by the protest.

Meanwhile, it was learnt that security personnel have brought the situation under control.

Security agents are also reportedly patrolling major motor parks and black spots prone to violence, to prevent breakdown of law and order.
