Afrobeats Singer Spyro Reveals Challenges of Being a “Jesus Boy” in the Music Industry

1 Min Read

Afrobeats singer, Spyro, has opened up about the challenges he faces in the music industry due to his public proclamation of faith in Jesus Christ. In a recent chat with Echo Room, Spyro shared a personal experience where popular R&B star-turned-pastor, Banky W, narrated to him how his career was affected after he publicly proclaimed Christ.

According to Spyro, Banky W told him that his problems in the music industry began after he publicly declared his faith. Spyro stated that being a “Jesus boy” has led to discrimination and lack of support in the industry.

“My biggest challenge in the music industry right now is discrimination. I came out with the ‘Jesus boy’ brand and I’ve received the biggest criticisms,” Spyro said.

He further explained that many media moguls and industry professionals have denied him support and goodwill due to his public faith. Spyro cited instances where other artists receive more support and promotion despite not being as successful as him.
