The Jigawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (JSPHCDA) is targeting 1.7 million children in the current round of polio immunisation campaign, the Executive Secretary of the agency, Dr Kabir Ibrahim, has said.

Ibrahim told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse on Sunday that the government had provided enough Oral Polio Vaccines (PVSs) for the smooth conduct of the exercise.

He added that trained personnel were currently conducting the exercise in the 27 local government areas of the state.

The executive secretary said that reports reaching the agency indicated that the five-day exercise, which commenced on Saturday, was going on successfully.

He commended parents, traditional and religious leaders as well as stakeholders for their continued support for the success of the exercise.

Ibrahim said he personally inspected the campaign in Miga, Jahun and KafinHausa, Garki and Maigatari local councils in the state. (NAN)
