Following the first lady, Aisha Buhari’s media outburst on BBC Hausa Service interview which has generated several reactions including the president’s statement noting that Aisha Buhari’s place is in his kitchen, some lawmakers have advised the president to heed the warnings of his wife.

Speaking on the media outburst yesterday, some members of the House of Representatives backed the wife of the president, commending her for her bravery in tackling the issue head-on.

The Chairman of the House Committee on Legislative Budget, Timothy Golu, in reaction to the controversial interview said she understood him better and is in a better position to have pointed the facts out to him.

He further added: “She’s drawing her husbands attention to issues that sycophants around him would not tell him. But she has come out with the truth and is saying it because she loves the husband.

“She is closer to the man (Buhari) more than any other person and since she has voiced this out, the husband should take it and review some of his actions and decisions.

“It will not be good for the President to ignore the complaints from the wife. She has been with him and is disturbed by certain things happening around the husband, so it’s natural for her to talk.”

Another lawmaker representing Egor/Ikpoba Okha Federal constituency, Ehiozuwa.Johnson Agbonayinma also backed the wife of the president adding that she had confirmed speculations which claimed that Buhari’s administration had been hijacked by a cabal.

He further commended her for courage in a”campaign to save Nigeria from the hands of a few selfish individuals.”
