The Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Agboola Ajayi, says the state’s Commissioner of Police, Bolaji Salami has ordered the withdrawal of his police escorts.

He raised the alarm in a Wednesday statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Babatope Okeowo.

Ajayi said the commissioner’s action has put his life and those of his family and staff in danger.

The deputy governor called on President Muhammadu Buhari and the heads of the police force and DSS to call the commissioner to order.

“We are not oblivious of their surreptitious move to undermine the security of the Deputy Governor and strip him of his security apparatus to make him venerable in order to carry out their evil agenda.

“The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, and the Director-General of State Security Service, Yusuf Magaji Bichi should be aware of this latest ugly development in Ondo State.

“Should anything happen to the Deputy Governor, his family and staff, the Commissioner of Police in Ondo State should be held responsible,” the statement read.

Ajayi and Salami had been involved in a stand-off on Saturday night over the deputy governor’s planned defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
