Akpabio Declares Collapse of Political Parties in Akwa Ibom Ahead of 2027 Elections

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has declared that by the 2027 general elections, there will be no active political opposition in Akwa Ibom State, claiming that all parties have effectively collapsed in support of his senatorial ambition.
Akpabio, who represents Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District, made the statement on Friday during his midterm empowerment briefing at the Ikot Ekpene Township Stadium.

“As I speak with you, there is nothing like a political party in 2027 in Akwa Ibom State again. For the Senate of Ikot-Ekpene Senatorial District, all political parties have collapsed to vote for Senator Godswill Akpabio,” he declared.
Taking a swipe at the opposition, the Senate President said the umbrella symbol of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) — the ruling party in the state — had been “torn into shreds” and could no longer offer protection or direction to the people.
Akpabio also praised Governor Umo Eno, describing him as a man of peace and genuine faith. “He is someone who professes God in his heart, unlike others who do so only with their lips,” Akpabio added.
