The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio has responded to allegations of corruption and oath taking leveled against him by the former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Joy Nunieh.
The former MD had accused Akpabio of orchestrating the ongoing corruption in the NDDC. She also accused him of trying to make her swear an oath in order to commit fraud on his behalf.
Responding to the allegations during an interview on Arise Television, Akpabio attacked the personal character of Ms. Nunieh and alleged that she was bitter against him for losing her job.

He stated that she was removed from office because she did not have an NYSC Certificate.
He accused her of having anger management issues and said she should see a doctor to have her brain checked.
Akpabio said to the presenter;
“By the way, let me just point it out. The last managing director that you mentioned, Joy Nunieh. No matter the allegations, I wish she would go to a hospital, see a doctor, get some injections and relax.”
The presenter asked the Minister if he implied that something was wrong with Ms Nunieh for leveling those accusations against him; to which he responded that something was wrong with her temperament.
He said, “you don’t need to to ask me, you can ask about four other husbands that she married, so I want to tell you what happened.”
“You people (referring to Arise TV) need to bring the former husbands, four of them to this studio so that you ask them questions one after the other, because it looks like a character problem.”
The presenter pointed out to Akpabio that Ms Nunieh’s former husbands will not have the answers to her professional conduct.
Akpabio responded, “that is not the issue, is she a professional? Let her come and tell you first. They will come and tell you about her character because what I’m seeing here, is somebody coming in front of the television to blab.”
He reiterated that Nigerians love bad news and as a Minister, it remains his job to protect people as well the administration of President Buhari.
He said the President is not aware of what is going on because he does not want to bother him.
He accused Ms Nunieh of carrying out a personal vendetta against him rather than address the allegations of corruption.
