Akpabio Urges Nigerian Youths to Stay Hopeful, Says Anger Inspired Him into Politics
The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has urged Nigerian youths not to lose hope in the country but to remain positive and committed to building a better nation.
Speaking during an interactive session with members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) tagged “An Uncommon Evening with the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio” over the weekend in Abuja, the Senate President said the ongoing reforms of President Bola Tinubu’s administration would soon yield positive results.
Akpabio, who was hosted by the APC National Youth Leader, Dayo Israel, encouraged young Nigerians to take responsibility for national transformation by starting with small acts of change in their communities.
“The world was not built in a day. If you feel discouraged about Nigeria’s future, do something about it,” he said. “Start by cleaning your environment, sharing what you have, and showing love to others. The poverty and challenges we see today will pass. Just believe in your country.”
He emphasized the power of mindset, urging the youth to maintain faith in themselves and the nation.
“The mind is stronger than the body. Believe that you will succeed, that you will be an agent of change, and it will happen,” he added.
Akpabio described the APC as a vehicle of transformation and stability, assuring that the party would continue to provide leadership opportunities for young Nigerians.
“You are not leaders of tomorrow; you are leaders of today,” he said. “Discover your mission of uniting Nigeria and earning respect globally through your actions and responsibilities.”
Responding to a question on what motivated him to join politics, Akpabio revealed that “anger” over poor conditions inspired his decision to seek change through leadership.
“If you are not angry with the situation of your family or community, you won’t have the drive to change it,” he explained.
In his remarks, APC National Youth Leader Dayo Israel said the session was organized to give young members an opportunity to learn from Akpabio’s experiences and be inspired to take up leadership roles in shaping the country’s future.
